The City's neighbourhood profile counts 7,445 residents in 1996 and 6,660 in 2016, while occupied homes held steady at about 2,575: smaller households, not fewer houses. In 2016, 71% of residents lived at the same address as five years earlier and 23% were 65 or older.
The land's history runs deeper. The London Heritage Council's street-name notes say Geary Avenue honours William and Elizabeth Geary, who arrived from Ireland in 1818 among London Township's first settlers. London annexed many surrounding communities in 1961, and the suburban growth that followed produced subdivisions such as Stoneybrook. The City's heritage register still lists an 1850 Regency house at 475 Fanshawe Park Road East and an 1880 building at 1324 Adelaide Street North.
In 2016, 92% of homes were single-detached, 3% semi-detached and 4% row houses, with almost no apartments. The City's NeighbourGood London site describes two neighbourhoods here: Stoneybrook, mostly 1960s to 1980s single-family homes around Stoneybrook Crescent and Hastings Drive, and Northridge, early 1960s to late 1970s homes around Glenora Drive, McLean Drive and Tennent Avenue, where a newer subdivision replaced the former Northdale Public School. Killarney Road, Meridene Crescent, Dalkeith Avenue and Camden Road are also inside the district.
Thames Valley District School Board runs Stoneybrook Public School (1460 Stoneybrook Crescent, JK to Grade 8), Northridge Public School (25 McLean Drive, JK to Grade 8) and A.B. Lucas Secondary School (656 Tennent Avenue). The London District Catholic School Board runs St. Mark Catholic School at 1440 Glenora Drive. Put the exact Stoneybrook address into each board's locator before you firm up an offer; attendance lines move.
The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority says the public part of the Kilally Meadows Environmentally Significant Area covers 146 hectares along the North Thames and Meander Creek between Adelaide Street and Highbury Avenue, with 10.3 km of trails and a main entrance at the east end of Windermere Road. The paved Thames Valley Parkway follows the river's south bank between the same streets.
The City calls the fenced Stoney Creek Off-Leash Area, in Stoney Creek Meadows at Adelaide Street North and Windermere Road, London's second largest. Hastings Park sits beside Stoneybrook Public School, and Northridge Pool at 15 McLean Drive is a seasonal City leisure pool with a diving well and a wading pool.
The west edge meets the Masonville district, where Masonville Place sits about 2.5 km from the middle of Stoneybrook as the crow flies. NeighbourGood also points to a shopping centre at Adelaide Street and Fanshawe Park Road and a small plaza at Glenora and McLean Drives. The nearest library is the Masonville branch at 30 North Centre Road.
London Transit buses serve Adelaide Street North and Fanshawe Park Road East, with connections to Masonville Place and Fanshawe College; check LTC for current routes and times.
Lots backing onto the Stoney Creek valley or Kilally Meadows border lands the UTRCA describes as North Thames floodplain, so ask whether a permit under Ontario Regulation 41/24 applies before planning a pool or addition. Most homes date from the 1960s to the 1980s, which makes a careful home inspection worth the time. If you already own here and are thinking of selling, start with a home evaluation from our team.

No. The City's NeighbourGood page places Stoneybrook Heights and Jack Chambers Public School (1650 Hastings Drive) north of Fanshawe Park Road East, inside the Uplands planning district, so look at Uplands if those are the streets you want.
Very few. The 2016 Census counted about 100 row houses and a handful of apartments among roughly 2,575 homes.
Across Fanshawe Park Road East, Stoney Creek runs between Adelaide and Highbury.
About 4.2 km as the crow flies from the middle of the district to the main campus, and London Transit buses link the two; check LTC for current routes.
Call Rob or George directly, or send a message and one of them will get back to you. A home evaluation is free and prepared by a person, never a formula.
