Because it was two. The Town was created in 2001 when the Township of Plympton joined the formerly independent Village of Wyoming. Wyoming is still the main population centre, while the old township's rural concessions run north to the lake, where beach neighbourhoods sit along Lakeshore Road.
Old Plympton Hall, built in 1869, housed the township government until the mid-1950s and was the first home of what is now the Plympton-Wyoming Fall Fair. The Plympton-Wyoming Historical Society runs a small museum in the lower level of the Camlachie library.
Almost all of them are houses. In the 2021 Census about 93 percent of occupied dwellings in Plympton-Wyoming were single-detached, and 88 percent of households owned their home. The housing is younger than Sarnia's: roughly a quarter of homes were built since 2001, and the population grew 6.6 percent between 2016 and 2021.
In practice you are choosing between three settings: a street in Wyoming (about 2,300 people in the 2021 Census), a rural lot in the old township, or a lakeside home in one of the shoreline communities such as Camlachie and the beach roads around it. If water is the goal, also browse Lake Huron waterfront homes across the whole shore.
The Town maintains several lakeside parks. Highland Glen Park on Lakeshore Road covers 11 hectares of forested ravine with a boat launch, beach access and trails. McEwen Park, also on Lakeshore Road, has about 200 metres of sandy beach. Blue Point Park in Camlachie and Lamrecton Park on Egremont Road add more beach access points.
Inland, McKay Park in the heart of Wyoming has an outdoor pool, splash pad and skateboard park, and the paved Wyoming Trail runs north and south along Broadway Street from Reece's Corners to the town centre. The Lambton County Library has branches in both Camlachie and Wyoming.
Highway 402 crosses the municipality, with interchanges at Airport Road (for Sarnia Chris Hadfield Airport), Mandaumin Road and Oil Heritage Road. Sarnia is next door to the west, and our London office is about 68 km from Wyoming as the crow flies.
Two boards cover the town: the Lambton Kent District School Board for public schools and the St. Clair Catholic District School Board for Catholic schools. Ask each board which schools serve a given address.
This stretch of Lake Huron shore is St. Clair Region Conservation Authority territory. Its permits are issued under the province-wide Ontario Regulation 41/24, and any development inside its mapped shoreline hazard area needs one. Its Map Your Property tool shows whether a lot is affected. Before firming up an offer on a lake lot, check the regulated area, ask what shoreline protection exists and who maintains it, and find out whether the home is on municipal water and sewer or on a well and septic system.
On a septic system, ask the seller for the original installation permit (the Province says these come from the municipality or health unit) and recent pumping receipts. We run the same shoreline checks on cottages across southwestern Ontario.

Wyoming is the largest. The Town also includes Camlachie and Reece's Corners, rural hamlets such as Errol and Aberarder, and beach communities along the Lake Huron shore.
Yes. The northern edge of the municipality is Lake Huron shoreline, with public beach access at parks including Highland Glen, McEwen, Blue Point and Lamrecton.
A mix, and younger than nearby Sarnia. The 2021 Census counted about a quarter of homes built in 2001 or later, and nearly all dwellings are detached houses.
Often, yes. Development inside the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority's regulated shoreline area needs its permit. Look the lot up on the SCRCA's online mapping before planning any work.
Very. The highway runs through the municipality with three interchanges: Airport Road, Mandaumin Road and Oil Heritage Road.
Call Rob or George directly, or send a message and one of them will get back to you. A home evaluation is free and prepared by a person, never a formula.
