Wellington Road is the south end's spine, running from downtown to Highway 401. White Oaks Mall sits on Wellington Road in the White Oaks district, and Victoria Hospital and Children's Hospital are at 800 Commissioners Road East, inside the City's South London district.
London Transit buses run along Wellington Road between downtown and the south end. If a home's appeal depends on a bus stop, check LTC for current routes and times before you firm up an offer.
This is our grouping, not an official one: 10 of the City's 42 planning districts that sit south of the Forks. At the 2016 Census they held 108,880 people between them. Westmount, Talbot and Lambeth sit on the seam with the west end, so we count them in both.
The "London South" label on MLS® listings is an area name set by the real estate board, with a different boundary, so the two will not always match. Much of the southern half of today's city came in on January 1, 1993, when London annexed nearly all of Westminster Township, including the police village of Lambeth; Westmount, White Oaks and Pond Mills had joined earlier, in 1961.
Figures are from the City's neighbourhood profiles (2016 Census data):
In Old South, find out whether the house is inside the Wortley Village-Old South heritage district; if it is, alterations to designated properties go through the City's Heritage Alteration Permit process. Near Westminster Ponds and the river, look up the lot on the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority's regulated area maps, since development in a regulated area may need a UTRCA permit.
Further south, the districts are young. Talbot, Bostwick and Longwoods had few or no recorded residents in 1996, so newer construction is the norm there. Compare what a given budget buys across these districts with our budget tool, or see every townhouse for sale in London if row housing in Westminster or Highland appeals.

No. "London South" is an area name set by the real estate board. Our South London is 10 City planning districts, so a small number of listings may fall in a different area by our count than their board label suggests.
Lambeth was a police village in Westminster Township until London annexed the township on January 1, 1993. Westmount, White Oaks and Pond Mills joined the city in the 1961 annexation.
At 800 Commissioners Road East, which falls inside the City's South London planning district, the same district as Wortley Village.
Yes. London Transit buses run along Wellington Road between downtown and the south end. Check LTC for current routes and times.
